Hey, it’s Charlie!

Charlie may be new to the NJ Crane expert team, but he’s certainly not new to the industry! Tampa based, Charlie became a full-time climber back in 1999. Over the years he used cranes every day and elevated his knowledge and expertise from stick cranes to knucklebooms.

As the owner of one such knuckle boom, Charlie got certified by Hans while using his very own crane. This experience solidified the relationship between him and Hans, and inspired him to join the team.

One thing that Charlie brings to the table in his training is his personal experience. Being based in Florida, much of Charlie’s work is hurricane related. Years ago after a hurricane Charlie had the extreme misfortune of falling through a roof while on the job! Don’t worry, he’s okay now. But between the injury that resulted from this accident, and other horror stories he has witnessed, Charlie prioritizes safety. He believes it is better to be safe before you are rushed through something.

Charlie has found a new passion in training, specifically our operator development programs, by helping fellow industry professionals learn how they can avoid dangerous situations like the one he found himself in. By training people to correctly and safely use cranes, he sees the opportunity to eliminate putting someone at risk in a tree or on a damaged roof.

While Charlie still likes to climb as much as possible, he is also a proud father of three. Although two of his children are already grown and out of the house, he is enjoying all the one-on-one bonding time he can get with his eight year old son.
